Corning Hiking Club

CHC was a club that met every Sunday Morning... 7am... Year-Round @ the Corning Public Parking Lot next to McDonald's (but not the McDonald's parking lot!). Everyone was invited! This schedule may return. For the meantime, however, club hours have been de-specified. If you'ld like to arrange a hike, please contact me ahead of time and we'll work something out. See you soon! January 21, 2007 (and all is swell.)

What a Good Morning! I've wanted to explore the rockface ridge that runs parallel with Denison Pkwy (towards Gang Mills) for quite some time now. I'll definately be going back! Some of the highlights were: a convergence of 3 ravines in the woods which led down to the river, a road cutting over the back hill that I didn't even know about (o.k.- it's POSTED, but... ), a flock of geese that lifted off the water when I got too close, and the stone basement of a house that probably burned down 70 years ago. Oh, and a cool piece of civil engineering at the convergence of the ravine's stream, the railroad tracks, and the river. Since I ended up on the tracks, I figured I'd walk back towards town until I converged with Wegman's.
